“Ferment!”
On Saturday Nov 7th, 10-12:30 pm, Yogaheart will be hosting the wonderful and experienced nutritional educator, Georgia Barnwell to deliver a morning of incredible hands on learning about the art of fermented foods. BY RESERVATION ONLY
“Almost every culture has a traditional fermented food. Pickles, Sauerkraut, Kim Chi, Yogurt, Kefir, Kvass, Miso, Tempeh, Tamari – these are all tasty and healthy fermented foods.
Fermenting transforms the food, making it more digestible and nutritious. It creates a food that is rich in living enzymes and life-force energy. Fermented foods provide a healthy source of probiotics – ‘good’ bacteria – that help heal your gut and enhance your immune system. Fermenting also preserves the food so it keeps longer – a good feature in our climate. We can preserve the harvest and at the same time prepare a tasty creation that is richer in nutrients than the original vegetable!”
On Sat Nov 7th, we will learn the basics of fermentation: different kinds of ferments and what they bring to our diets. We will taste some samples. And we will take home some recipes, information as well as a jar of your very own fermented veggies!
Location: Oakwood House, 21 Boathouse Lane, Dartmouth.
Fee: $40
