Thank you for addressing my questions in last night’s yoga class. The information you provided was very beneficial and I appreciate you taking the time to integrate these thoughts into the class. You are a wonderful, patient teacher! I especially identified with your comment that most of our stress, strife, and general imbalances in life originate from “arguing with the moment.” This is a very powerful idea that I know I will be keeping in my pocket, so to speak, for the rest of my days.

I am really enjoying the offering of four times per week. I love the Friday night yoga and the meditation on Wednesday. You are by far the best yoga teacher I have ever encountered. The more I practice the more I want to practice. I have already adopted yoga as the primary fitness component of my martial arts training. The music is great and I find the way you encourage all of your students to practice from the inside out gives me the courage to accept where I am at, on any given day, and the courage to push those limits in a life affirming manner. Mandee is a fantastic yoga instructor. I have participated in both beginner and intermediate Yoga sessions with Mandee during the past five years. I have yet to leave one of her classes not felling a lot more relaxed than when I arrived. I’m looking forward to another session beginning in the Fall.

I first came to yoga classes eight months ago at a particularly stressful period in my life. In addition to the emotional stress, I was also experiencing a lot of physical discomfort in the form of headache, neck and shoulder pain and digestive difficulties. I have found the yoga breathing techniques have helped me tremendously in overcoming my stress and anxiety. I intend to continue my yoga practice as part of my daily life.

Recently, my co-worker noticed a poster for yoga classes. We had never discussed that I took an interest in yoga but she must of sensed it. She gave me a little slip of paper that read yogaheart and a website, so of course I was interested I had not taken a class for sometime and felt I would like to practice with other people. My first thoughts of the website was, how professional looking it, very simple yet elegant, easy to navigate. While looking through the information I found what I was looking for, a class after work, from 6-7pm, perfect I wouldn’t have to wait around too long after work. The first class I attended, was so positive, you could feel positive energy as soon as you entered. As we preceded into the class I began to feel better within 5 minutes of the practice, my neck and shoulder pain were subsiding and my well being was improving throughout the class. The next class I couldn’t wait to get there just to have that serene feeling and knowing I was doing something good. My husband I am recently went to Mandee’s breathing workshop, it was very informative, and I feel like I have learned some different breathing techniques to incorporate in my daily life, whether it be meditating, working, running, walking, the breath is a core essence. I can definately say, I am hooked on yoga and Mandee is an excellent yoga teacher and truly a beautiful person to be around.

From the Chakra Awareness Workshop: Everyone should take this workshop! If you are feeling stressed, tense or even remotely out of sorts, you will definately benefit from this refreshing experience. Mandee is a gifted yoga teacher. I love her approach as she helps her students focus on letting go of the mind and honoring how to feel in body and spirit. I have been going to Mandee’s yoga classes since January of 2008, I’m sorry I haven’t started sooner. I feel so relaxed and at peace after each of her classes. I try to go at least 3 times a week and would go every day if I could, I am hooked on yoga. A number of times on my way to class after a long hard day at work I almost went home but I would remind myself how refreshed I am after class and go, every time the same results relaxed, at peace and refreshed. I learn more about my body and how yoga can help me in every class, Mandee is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain to her students how each of the positions are helping our bodies. I feel very fortunate to have Mandee as an instructor; I will continue to take her classes for as long as she is teaching.

I’ve been practicing yoga with Mandee for three years now, and her classes are one of the things that I enjoy most in my week. Mandee provides a complete package that excersies the body, relaxes the mind and opens the possibility of peace for the spirit.
As with many occupations, the job that I have chosen can have several cumulative adverse physical effects over many years of practice. Since I have to keep working for many years yet, I have to consider my physical well being in relation to my work and how to protect myself against work related injuries. Mandy has told us that the only thing that we truly own in this life is our bodies. I feel how true this is and thinik of it in relation to my work. My solution to ‘how can I continue working?’ is Mandee’s yoga classes. Yoga has made me more aware of my body, how it moves, and how I hold myself. I can now counteract the effects of my work by stretching and strengthening the appropriate areas. Another benefit is that it just feels so good and is so much fun!
I also enjoy Mandee’s stories and reflections at the beginning of class. I’ve been enjoying the philosophy of Eckhart Tolle, thanks to being made aware of his writing from Mandee’s talks.

I have been practicing yoga with Mandy for several years and have found her interaction with the class, expertise and knowledge of yoga truly inspirational. I like Mandy’s classes for the variety of postures and relaxation techniques she uses. Her classes are always well planned, with a range of movements designed to suit all levels of practice. As an ‘older’ student, Mandy’s expert knowledge of the body enables her too accurately and, when necessary, discretely, meet my individual needs safely. The music and her sooth voice create a tranquil atmosphere that is relaxing at the end of a busy day.

Kathy also shares the following story about how a breathing technique helped her son through a fearful situation.
“Mandee’s instruction of Yoga breathing exercises has been a relaxing technique that I have been able to apply in a variety of situations. I use these exercises to help me cope with everyday stressors as well as insomnia and peri-menopausal triggers. Recently my son was involved in a car accident and required minor treatment at emergency. I was a wreck, not because of the stitches he would need but because of his phobia of needles. When the Dr. told him he would need not only stitches but also a tetanus shot, this 21 year old began to have a panic attack and all I could think was as his mother how could I help him through this? I thought of my Yoga practice and Savitri breathing. So with me holding one hand and his girl friend the other, I began a round of the breathing exercise. I was totally amazed how after several rounds he had calmed down enough and gained enough control to begin to mentally prepare for the needles. As the Dr. approached with the needles I had him close his eyes and we began another round as the doctor injected him. Yes, he still squeezed my hand very tightly and twitched his body, but he held control and was able to follow through with a needle for the first time in 14 years! I would recommend Yoga breathing exercises as a way to help you control your body and gain control of your mind – supporting you in handling stressful situations.”
I want to let you know how powerful the pranayama (breathing) workshop was for me. I have an anxiety disorder that leads to panic and hyperventilation. I often constrict my breathing to prevent myself from having a panic attack. This habit has become so ingrained that it has been years since I’ve been able to fill my lungs completely. Several times during the workshop I was overcome with emotion because of finally feeling safe enough to really breathe. I really can’t thank you enough for this experience. Your reassurances about opening “these ancient rivers” and allowing myself to move through the uncomfortable sensations that usually lead me into panic were so very helpful. I wish that I lived in the HRM so that I could attend more of your classes. Thank you again,
