Be Love(d)

❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Happy Valentines Day ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

For those who came to class last week and heard there might be a yoga class this Saturday morning, I just want to let you know that we will not be having a special class for Valentines this year.

I do, however, wish to encourage us all to take time to pause and breathe today, and tune in to the Big Love. Such Love is the sweetness that transcends all circumstances…  it reveals itself when we set down the part of our mind that is seeking something else. When we set down our demands and see what actually is being offered, we get a whiff of the sweet fragrance of life, exactly as it is in this moment. For all of us, there are times or situations where it seems more difficult to tune in and discover this sweet ineffable love. Times like these, contemplating gratitude can help to clear the sky so that we can dance again.

You see, it is when the mind is left to run rampant, focusing on thoughts of what it believes it doesn’t have, it generates thick clouds that hide the Love. When the mind is guided to focus on the gifts that surround us all right now, in the present moment, the clouds dissipate. Life doesn’t have to conform to our preferences for us to be happy and at peace. As Brother David Steindl-Rast mentions in one of my very favourite videos, A Good Day, he says,

…begin by opening your eyes, and be surprised you have eyes to open! That incredible array of colours that is constantly offered to us for pure enjoyment. Look at the sky! We so rarely look at the sky. We so rarely note how different it is from moment to moment with clouds coming and going. We just think of the weather, and even with the weather we do not think of the many nuances of weather. We just think of good weather and bad weather. This day right now is unique weather. Maybe a kind that will never exactly in that form, come again. The formation of clouds in the sky will never be the same as it is right now. Open your eyes, look at that.

So my wish to you is for us all to take a moment and see how life loves us in all the little and big ways that it does, and for you to remember to love your wonderful Self and be kind.

From my Y❤️GAHEART to yours… wishing you a very sweet and happy Valentines Day!
